Default fuel pressure test ?

I have a nos wet kit and I need to check fuel pressure at wot. The problem I have is I have removed the schrader valve on the fuel rail to attach the fuel solonoid line and now I have no place to attach the gauge. Is there another place to hook up the gauge or maybe a T fitting for this?

I finally got a T put together using AN fittings and I did a WOT run with a 100 wet shot and fuel pressure went from 58 psi down to about 52 psi and slowly started to come back up while still at WOT. From what I can tell from searching is that should be ok. But on the dyno with A/F monitoring it reads in the 13 to 1 range and changing out the jets doesnt help. I have not yet checked yet to see if the injectors are maxed out. I am putting down 415 hp thru an a4 3400 stall on the bottle.

Is the fuel pump on these cars capable of handling more power than the injectors?

a good one will for awhile, but tends to put alot of strain on it and go out prematurely.

the pressure seems fine from what you said. that is typical from a returnless rail to have momentary drop like that.

Can you post a link of the tee fitting you used?

I dont have a link for the T fitting. I just went to the local speed shop and got a dual port AN fitting that attaches to the fuel rail, plugged off one port and used the other for the gauge.

I also just got off the phone with another speed shop that does ls1 tuning and they said my fuel pressure is dropping too much on the spray and that I needed to upgrade my fuel pump. I thought 58psi dropping to 52psi and then climbing back up would be ok. Seems like I get a different opinion on whats wrong with each person I talk to. Im just trying to make it safe and not blow anything up.

I went to the track Sunday with fuel pressure gauge still hooked up. On a 100 shot I ran a 11.62 @117mph. Fuel pressure stayed at 56 psi the whole run. So I tried the 125 shot, and ran a 11.36 @120mph (a new best! not bad for a stock heads and stock cam auto) spinning about 10 feet off the line. Fuel pressure same as before at 56 psi. Got home and checked the plugs and all looked ok. So I may try a different dyno to check my A/F cause its not showing any signs of being too lean.

it seems fine for now, but it would be a good idea to upgrade befor it takes a **** on you, do you have a low fuel pressure shut off switch wired in? nitrous and some widebands dont mix, nitrous gives false AFR on some widebands. if it the pressure is holding steady at the track it sounds fine for now. but would recomend upgrading when you can, cause extra strain on a stock pump wont last forever.

no I dont have a low fuel pressure switch yet but will be getting 1 soon. the guys running the dyno never said anything about nitrous giving false AFR readings on some widebands. Is this fairly common?
