What does the factory fuel pump flow?
Who knows the real answer. I have read so many posts about replacing the factory fuel pump when bolt on mods are made, but nobody seems to know what the factory fuel pump is actually capable of.

With the mods in your sig you shouldn't be running the factory pump, lets put it that way. lol. Seriously though, I'm not sure but pretty much anyone you talk to will tell you to replace it once you start needing bigger injectors from factory. It is the safe thing to do. That is the short answer.

Thanks. But thats my point, everybody will recommend a new pump w/o know what the factory will flow. Even guys with some bolt-ons think they MUST get a new fuel pump. I dont understand why the LS1 community here does not know what the factory pump will flow. I will see if I can get the info from a Chevy dealership, and I will post it.

I have yet to find out also. Though it might be safe, I disagree with the post saying upgrade it when you upgrade injectors. I have seen LS1 vettes run into the 9's with stock pump, harness, and BAP.

BAP = boost-a-pump, it is a voltage booster that will give the pump more voltage thus increasing fuel volume output. While some of the above posts are correct, it just makes sense to replace the factory pump when you are going for a performance application. Sure it might work, but for how long? Especially if it has a lot of miles on it it is a good idea to go ahead be proactive and change it. That way you don't have to worry about it. IF you want to save a few bucks go for it, just remember you have to pay to play. Reminds me of the old hot rodders adage: "You can build it cheap. You can build it fast. You can build it reliable. Pick any 2."

The stock pump is in the neighborhood of 190lph and is running out of steam about 400-450rwhp. Yes some have made more but every setup and car is different and it is your fuel supply why take a chance.

"I 'm using my stock pump on my 4.8 and i was making 480hp 460trq at the rear wheels."
----> I assume that you still using the factory fuel pump to pull 480Hp and that was at the drive wheels, correct?
