Default Fuel system Please help**

I am wondering what parts I need to have a basic fuel system for my build...

I have a 5.3L truck engine, and Im putting it into my 86 IROC, needs 58psi-same as ls1. I am running basic aftermarket fuel rails and Stock injectors or some ls1 injectors I have too. I no longer have the old fuel tank or lines.

This is what I think I need, if there is more or if I don't need something let me know:

-RCI fuel tank(12-15 gal) comes with 0-90ohm sender

-Steel braided fuel line(measurement undetermined)

-External, inline Walboro Fuel pump(255lph??)

-Aftermarket fuel pressure regulator(not sure what kind)

-Various AN fittings

I am also not running a return line. Do I still need a regulator?

If your running an inline pump, you need a regulator. A lot of people use a 99 Corvette regulator since their easily available. You also want to make sure you are using a baffled tank with your inline pump. The baffles will prevent the fuel from moving around too much. Low fuel levels may cause all the fuel to move to one side of the tank under hard cornering and cause the engine to stall. I used my stock 79 tank and used a stock Ls1 style in tank pump because my tank is not baffled. You don't need to use steel braided line. You can use SAE steel hard line and fuel injection hose with hose barb fittings to connect to the hard line. I plan to use fuel injection hose from the pump to the filter then hard line from the filter to the front of the car where more fuel injection hose will be used to connect to the fuel rail.

The 99 up tanks fit directly into the 3rd gen f-bodies. You just need to cut the fuel neck from your stock tank. This is the easy way out. You can even use the 4th gen fuel lines if you are careful.

You will have to modify the sending unit to get the proper fuel level reading. I've done a few of these & they work out well.

If I use a foam insert, and keep from going under a quarter of a tank...would it be okay?
Is the aeromotive regulator A1000-6 a good product?

We can set you up with a complete fuel system for your needs give me a call with some info on your setup. You can make things alot simpler than you have listed....and as Lonnie pointed out the 99 up tanks fit directly into your car. Makes a very easy install for a good pump and feed.

I checked out jegs, they have the aluminum fuel line, which size would be sufficient? 1/2-3/8-5/8?

I would say 3/8 would be suficiant! but to be sure i guess 1/2 would do! not sure with that pump though! I have -10an from tank to A1000 pump! then
-10an to a1000 regulator! then -8an to the rails! works well no problems what so ever!
