Default New pump install, now fuel gauge dosen't work

Put my new AC Delco fuel pump in my 95 Z28 yesterday, had a half a tank and ran it down to just under 1/4 a tank. I filled it up after and the needle went way past F has not moved after 80 miles. Did the sending unit fail also or could it have been something I did installing the pump? It just does not make sense because it still worked before I filled up after the pump install

You either have a bad connection or the sender failed. Going way past full indicates an open circuit.

Ok heres what happens. When I fill up the needle goes all the way past F till it touches the end of the dash section in the fuel gauge. After driving for a while it started to go down. I drove the car to 1/2 tank and filled up and the car took13 gallons of gas! So just about at a half a tank the car is empty. What could have went wrong?

you beat up the sender on the way out or back in

also remotely likely that the sender is just dragging on the pump set up or a clamp etc. that you got in there

You messed up the sender when you installed the new pump replace your sender. Sorry there is no magic fix for you.
