For all of you thinking of buying a Truccrap I say avoid the headache and Trouble and just go spool or locker. I'm at a point where I will pay somebody to break mine. It is so friking anoying the thing pops like a gun when you turn. It was fine until I went to the track and after doing only 1.9s 60"s with it it went crappy. SAVE YOURSELF SOME MONEY AND AVOID TRUCCRAP.

I can tell you one thing we just found out about the locker. After you drive through the water and do your burn-out at the track, do a dry hop to re-engage the locker before dumping the clutch. If you don't, this might happen to your rear.

This happened to a GTO we took to the LSX Shoot-out last weekend. It happened on it's maiden pass, right on the starting line. Bob

What did teh locker cause the pinion/input yoke to fail? I'm not sure what the differntial had to do with that failure....

race cars, anything with big power should get a spool. Done deal.

The Locker had substantial in-line slack after the burnout. In other words the driveshaft would turn a given amount before engaging the gears (slack). Therefore when he likely dumped the clutch and the slack finally caught up the end result was damage as shown.

I've ran a posi, truetrac, and a spool.

Spool is the only way to go if you want to go fast.

I run a full spool with 35 spline axles and 4:30 gears... it all depends on what you feel is streetable... I wouldnt change anything about this setup... plus its not very easy to break a full spool with 35 spline axles

We have a spool in my Camaro, and with my driving being mostly rural and highway, I've driven cars with spools and have hardly noticed that the spool is in there. There are those though who do not want a spool in their car, for whatever reason. Maybe they park in a parking garage, who knows. As a shop though, I try to find them an alternative. Moser suggested we try the new Wave trak in place the the locker in this GTO. It showed up yesterday at our shop. We've installed one in another car and it is working great so far, but the power output of that car is approx half of what this GTO is producing. We will see, but if you don't try then you won't know if there is something out there that will handle the power. Bob

See how my tru track lasts with my car now being auto.Going to track it maybe a dozen times then retire it from track and then it will be street only. Figure put 700 to 750 engine hp thru it for past 5000 miles since did engine and turbo kit but only ran old nittos with the six speed and only couple higher rpm launches. No track runs.
Will be likely running 1000 or so engine hp next season and once in awhile on et street radials or m and h street radials but thru the 4l80.No transbrake planned.

That wavetrac looks potentially interesting if they offer it for my s60. Not sure how streetable they are compared to the other options out there. Never driven a car with locker or spool so no experience how much would like or hate them on the street. Do mostly city driving not much highway.

The s60 has 35 spline axles with tru trac.
