Dana 60 and tru track..how much can it take really?
My car is pretty much 100% street car. Its going to roll on nittos almost all the time but might track it once or twice just to pretty much hang the time slip on the wall. I would run likley et street radials 16 inch for the track runs.
I will be auto 4l80e with like a 3400 stall.
I am not sure how much power would try to run at the track. Would like to hit a high 9 at say high 130s and think can get that at around 12psi not counting spray. Was planning on small shots 75 to 100 max but not necessarily needed dont think to hit th high 9s.
Car won't be fully track legal for 9s well not even close..but will go to this slacker track to run most likely.
I dont really want a spool or locker for my planned dana 60. I know the axles and gears are very strong on the dana 60 so only the tru trac might break.
How much are you guys putting thru it especially on an auto with the tru trac not locker or spool. Would I maybe be ok for some say 700rwhp launches? Or is that tru trac going to break first pass.
or should I try to stay at say 600 or so rwhp. Not sure how much power I will need to hit high 9s I realized it depends on 60fts and not sure what 60fts to expect .Would think with 3400 stall and et street radials could hit some 1.6s if can build some boost with my two step and antilag. Car is not drag strip opitimized ,its going to be like 4200 race weight.
Willl the tru trac be ok if dial it up to say 1000rwhp and just street it .No really hard high rpm launches on drag tires.Nittos of course can't hook that kind of power. I woudl think six speeds would also break the tru trak easier do to the way they shock the rear end?

Thanks Mcleod thats what want to see. I am hoping my dana is pretty quiet if not mabye swap in some other make of gears hearing Yukons are very quiet. I won't put up with bad noise in this car. Went thru it in the past with the 10 bolt and went back to 3.42s.

s60 is what I am getting. And 800 isn't enough for me. I will have 800rwhp minimum with auto trans 850 rwhp minimum with m6 but could wind up with more like 1100 rwhp . Course no intention of drag stripping the car at 1100 rwhp that would be mostly for off track use..LOL And would think only way to hurt the true track is hard launches at the track and auto should help after all some guys run like 500 hp or more thru their 10bolts with the auto absorbing the shock of launch.
I guess might just have to buy the normal s60 and see how it does.If keep blowing up tru tracks then maybe consider locker or spool.

Most damage to the rear is from wheel hop. The dana 60 will hold plenty of power. If it is good enough for CORE off road trucks then it will work for us. Just make sure that you get relocation brackets put on when you get it and some adjustible lower controll arms to ensure that the rear is centered and that will eliminate most of your problems. For more help get a drag rear sway bar like BMR sells. If you are really going to push 1000rw **** is going to break. Get use to it.

Ok time to rephrase a bit. I only want to hear from Dana 60 guys with that tru track or whatever they call it ..And auto guys.
I am swapping in a 4l80e in spring anyway and car won't be tracked until it has the dana and the 4l80e.So autos usually let you run sometimes even stock 10 bolt to big power levels. I also can turn my power down some to around 650 rwhp lowest maybe as figure that should get me a 10 or maybe high 9 at the track? On the street wouldnt think could break the tru trac or whatever its called as woudln't have the traction and be launching like at the track.
So no disrepect to you 9 inch guys but going with dana 60 with basic diff. not spool and not locker. If break the diff it comes with then have to think about what to do.
