Having issues with Moser 9"
Having issues with Moser 9" I started on the install yesterday with some friends, have the rear end out and got the brake plates off. In the write up it says you need to have the bearings pressed onto the axles in order of: Hub, Backing plate, Bearing, and Bearing retainer. My axles came with the bearings pressed on them exactly like this 
. Am I missing something or is something wrong??
. Am I missing something or is something wrong?? Those look like a setup for a Mustang..or something that uses a standard 9", not the newer F-Body setup.
The way you need them setup for the F-Body is like this..
Those black pieces of Steel are what they are calling the Brake Backing Plates, I call them the Caliper Brackets.
Here they are bolted in..
Yours are definately for something other than a 4th Gen F-Body. I would send them back with your Caliper Brackets, and then have them press the Brackets on to the new Axles. I say new Axles cause I highly suggest you get ones that have the hole in the Hub like mine do to, if not then it's pretty much impossible to bolt them on.

Did yours come with those? I was just going to reuse the backing plates off of my old rear end, Moser said you could. The only problem is the bearings are already pressed on and there isn't any way to get the backing plate where it should be.
No, those Plates are from my 10-Bolt. I took them off, and painted them, then pressed everything on when I recieved all my parts. I had the Center Section assembled, I put the Axles together.

Really the answers I need are did your axles come with the bearings already pressed on, and if not is there anything I can do? I brought it to a transmission shop and they said since the retainer ring is already on they can't take it off without damaging the bearing.

They sent you the wrong thing. You have two options
1) Buy a new set of wheel bearings, take your axles to a machine shop and have them remove the current ones and put on the back plates, abs reluctor ring (if you have 4 channel abs), and the backing plates. You can't not reuse a wheel bearing after it's been pressed on, because when they put a clampshell on it to press it back off, it damages teh wheel bearing.
2) send the axles back to moser and tell them to send you the right axles (which would be the same axles except with nothing pressed on). This would save you the cost of buying new wheel bearings.

Tell them you need bearings for a 1975 Ford Pick-up. That will get you the correct bearings. The bearings should never come pre-installed on the axles unless the customer request they be installed. Bob
I looked at the bearings for an '82 Ford truck which also has a 9" and it wasn't the right one, I'll look at the wheel bearing for the bronco and see what it looks like.
