Default 10 bolt replacement axles

I know replace the 10 bolt with a 9" or a 12 bolt... If you are gonna come in and say that then please dont bother! I have an 02 A4 ws6. I want to go 3.73 gears and would like to upgrade the axles. What are the options as far as 10 bolt 28 spline stronger axles?

Moser upgraded axles for $235 a pair without studs from a board sponsor. http://www.exoticperformanceplus.com...html?item=1341

I found a used pair in the For Sale section of this board a few years back.

I have heard of KA axles as well that don't have as much play as mosers but I have never an mosers and just heard about these other axles and I think they are a local So Cal company just don't remember who makes them I am looking it up now. Are the mosers really good? I may just go with them as well. Sorry man for the thread jack.

Dont worry about the more information the better! Thanks for all the input. Anymore? Axles and a girdle maybe 3.73s? Those are your basic upgrades right?

Here's a good deal on a girdle that we ordered in for a customer who didn't pick it up. http://www.exoticperformanceplus.com...html?item=1584 Bob

Thanks for the negative input. Always some dumbass that has to put there 2 cents in like every other thread. Not all of our cars are dragstrip cars pushing 500 hp. Take that **** somewhere else!

I've been bracket racing my car 3-4 times per month since 2000 and I broke one posi unit. That's $400 vs $2,500. See my sig.

It get old when someone keeps bashing those of us with 10 bolts, like I've said before and I'll say it again, I have bulletproofed mine and I am over 400 rwhp and I have a M6 and it does quite fine! Yes if you're going to hardcore drag race it yes you might want to change it. I have had 5 F bodies with 10 bolts including two with M6 and have never broke one yet! And guess what 12 bolts and 9" break to at some point! I actually enjoy trying to make something last longer that is supposed to not last and then it does with some modifications, that's part of the fun doing this "hobby". Plus there are plenty of people out there that just don't have $2500 to put down on a new 12 bolt, etc. especially for a DD. I can afford to buy a 12 bolt, etc. but again I choose to make the 10 bolt work with modifications and its amazing how well it holds up with a $750 investment. The funny thing is if 10 bolts were such a waste of money why is it the so many companies, i.e. Moser, Strange and a lot more make some serious parts for 10 bolts? So keep your broken leg comments to yourself because apparently thats all you got is snide comments anyway!

I agree, i dont have many post on here but i have spent alot of time reading the forums here, and thats all i see is people bashing the 10 bolt. Does it make people feel better to go into a forum and put a 5 word sentence in there. Does it justify the 2500 they have put into their 12bolt or 9". Really annoying and i sometimes wonder if thats how they have a 1000 post.

I can't speak for everyone, but most people have been in the same boat and they are trying to keep you from making the same mistakes. Yeah...the initial cost of an upgraded rear is a big hit, but you can easily spend that and more over time trying to strengthen and repair a 10 bolt. Most people with upgraded rears have been there...done that...and regret spending the money on a worthless cause.

To the OP, I honestly wouldn't waste money on upgraded axles with an A4. Most failures I have seen/experienced occur in the carrier and the gear set.

Your A4 is going to be a little nicer to the 10 bolt than a stick is. I think Speed Inc. has Moser 28 spline axles for 250-300. Any particular reason you want new axles?
