spool keeps the rotaton of both wheels locked at all time.

locker allows each wheel to spin at different speeds around corners, locks under acceleration.

Spool = drag strip
Locker = Street/Strip

so with a mainly street driven car I will want to stay away from the spool? thanks for the info. also how difficult is it to switch from a spool to a locker, say I find a used 12 bolt and has a spool, can I put a locker in it instead?

Some people daily drive spools... but it can eat up tires quick and you might have trouble in parking spots. But yes, you can remove a spool and put a locker in.

I went with a locker...

True-Trac is the way to go if your driving the car on the street. it acts as a "screw type" posi-traction. when the vehicle is under normal driving conditions, it is single traction for easy drivability. but under hard acceleration, it locks up for better traction. thats the best way to explain it.

But to put things in easier terms to understand... it saves your butt on a wet road!

its just a all-around better unit for a street car.

Maybe it's because I have an automatic, but my locker feels stock. Well... it does pop sometimes...hah

^^^^ Agreed with Codered. If you are primarily driving on the street go positraction not a spool or locker.

Another vote for the true-trac. If I understand correctly, it's basically like a torsen on roids.

Depends. If you have a spool with 35 spline axles, and you find a nice True Trac with 31 splines...then you need new axles.

If you plan on buying a new rearend, just go with a 9". Barely more in price but it won't have a crappy torque arm mount like the Moser 12 bolt.

SPend a little more and you can get into a nice rearend setup with the truetrac. why waste the money.

True, but dont settle for less when you are spending that much money. If you dont find a good used one wait until you can afford the right one that fits your driving habits.
