what are the typical 1/4 ET gains from 3.42 to 4.10s in a M6 car?
this is a 2 part question lol
currently im stock internals, and want to go a lil faster. my best 60' on the 10bolt 342 rear/26" tire was 1.69 & i think i could get into the low-mid 1.6's with some more seat time. i trap at 117+ now as it sits
what would the typical gains be going from 342s to 410s in a 6speed car?
2 tenths?
right now my raceweight is 3380lbs with me in it. i know i can drop another 100lbs off in the near future. i want the car in the 3200lb range with me in it
then, next question- what size tire to go with? most likely id be running Hoosier QTP DOT slicks
according to the gear table-
it shows 113 mph on a 26" tire & 4.10s @ 6k
118 mph on a 27" tire & 4.10s @ 6k
122 mph on a 28" tire & 4.10s @ 6k
thanks for any and all input guys. i appreciate it

I haven't takin mine to the track with the 4.10's yet. But i know it accels a hell of alot better! Worth it either way, and before the h/c/i and my spirited driving i was getting about 22 MPG with the 4.10's in mixed driving with stock tune, now even with H/C/I and even running a full bottle of N20 through 1 tank of gas i got 18.2 MPG on an SD tune. At 80 MPH its also just at 2100 rpm and at 70 about 1950.

ron your trap speed will be a little lower but your time should improve.
as far as tire size. see how high you are in the rpm at the end of the quarter. if you run out of gear then step up to like a 28 inch tall tire.
im running 4.10s right now, havent been back to the track yet with them in so im not sure how far my 4th will go but we will see.

1.6x 60ft's on that poor 10bolt!?!?! Good lord. I actually feel sorry for it, haha. I'm no expert, but if you're consistently pulling times like that, be prepared to get towed home from the track one of these days.

I was so pumped for getting 4.10s instead of the 3.23s I have now since my heads/cam/bolts ons car is actually currently tuned for the 4.10s, but I just keep hearing over and over that trap speeds will decrease with 4.10s.
So if Im racing from both low and high speed rolls, than are 4.10s the last thing I want?
I was so excisted to get them

I had 124 1/4 mile launches on my stock 10-bolt and had about half a dozen 1.6x launches before I finally ground down a few of the posi teeth. . . Was hideous driving for 2 days on it!!! Now, I've skipped the 3.73 or 4.10 option many take and jumped right into 4.30 gears. No track use yet, but hopefully next week

Ron that's funny that you posted this question. I was just thinking about the same thing and about to post up and found your post. My buddy has 4.10s and is going through the traps with the shift light on in 4th gear on a 26 inch tall tire. I'm thinking about going for the motive 3.90s so I still get good highway mileage and don't lose that much mph. You don't want to go too high or your never going to be able to spray the car without running at least a 28" tall tire.

the guy def should not have much of a problem cutting the 1.69 in his 3.42's
I cut a 1.49 on 3.42's on stock 10 bolt, after a few times it snapped a axle, had the axles and all replaced (moser) , put a girdle on it, and 4.10's and first launch it snapped something in the rear, and snapped the drive shaft, so i will find out tomm!!!! anybody have any input on what i could have snapped in the rear, it will role forward for about 10 feet then lock up, you then have to role it backwards and free it up then role it forward again!
thanks

You took a chunk out of your ring gear, I did the same but it was the pinion gear that lost a chunk, it would only roll a foot if that.
What tires are you guys using to get 60 ft's like that? and what shocks do you have on the back?
I've never ran my Camaro at the track but with a gtech or tazzo thinngy I can only get 2.0's best on the street with crappy ish tires.

since i started this thread, i decided to go with either a 9" or 12 bolt rear and 430s with a 27" tire or 456s with a 28" tire

I do not understand how adding 4.10's will lower your mph. From the second you launch your car will be in a higher rpm range where it makes more power. Making more average power through out the run should give you an increase in trap speed. Anyone have actual results or is this an all bs thread?

i had a few bolt ons and tune with my Lt1 running 13.9 at 3k+ DA so knowing my weather sucks! i added 4.10s 19" rear radials i managed to get a 13.70 out of it tryin to lauch soft enough to keep from incinerating the 19s
3.42s 19" c6s 13.9@102 decent traction 2.3 60'
4.10s 19"c6s 13.57@105 spinnin 2.22 60'
Now on DRs and 4.10s the clutch took a POOOOOOP 13.35@105.2
