will a rearend out of a 93-97 f-body work on an 98-02 f-body

yes. To retain ABS, you have to make sure both rears have the same number of channels.

Non TCS cars are 3 channel, Traction controlled cars are 4 channel.

a 3 channel can be made into a 4 channel by bringing the parts over, not sure if it can be done the other way around.

You will also have to swap backing plates and ebrake components from rear to rear.
