I went 1.5 60's on my stock 10 bolt for like 4 years with many many passes. Yes it did finally brake but there is no specific HP at which it will brake, some people get lucky and some don't. SO I hope you have good luck.

I am trying to stretch the budget a little bit this summer and trying to do the top end, full bolt ons etc and then 9" later this summer or early next spring before I even drive the car out of storage. All and all my car should see hopefully 450+rwhp through the stock 10 bolt and stock 3.42's so my question is how much did you throw at your 10 bolt before it finally went?
First off any automatic cars do not count, as they are far easier on a 10 bolt then m6 cars. I have personally seen on the street, a good powershift spitting gears out of said 10 bolt.

When I did own a auto on a heavy 383 LT1 car with mild stall and factory 3.23's would run low 1.7's in the 60 and the rear had 114k on it. To me that is freaky in general. It started to howl and thats when the 12 bolt went in.

Then I moved on to a 02 t/a with a 30k 10 bolt, I drove on it and race on the street w/o drag radials and that was about it, the same 12 bolt was moved over.

To be completely honest, rear ends from factory that have been never touched, or changed tend to last the longest. Autos can go farther into the 1.6's or even 1.5's before blowing up, M6 cars can **** out after a hard hit, thats why those drivers tend to ride the clutch and kill those instead.

This is from dealing with these cars since the late 90's

Thanks, my rear is as it came from the factory, hasn't been touched and the car has 10k miles on it. I honestly don't plan on going out and trying to cut 1.5 and 1.6 60' times with the 10 bolt and expect it to last. I will have my h/c/i +bolt ons done in early July with the 9" coming in early August hopefully so I will probably wait for the 9" for any serious track time, but I would like to get on it a little bit before then ya know

over 420rwhp here, stock 10 bolt with 3.42's with Goodyear eagle F1 GS -d3's in 315's, BMR LCA's, BMR relocation brackets, SPohn adjustable torque arm, Stage 2 RAM powergrip clutch...

no problems here. I beat the **** out of my car everyday.

What does it run.

Also mind you on a street tire, spinning is a good thing, it doesnt hammer the rear when it grips.

Yeah I definitely don't plan on doing many 6500 rpm clutch drops on it! I might actually just leave the F1's on there and not do Nittos until I can get the 9" in and then just go with some Mickey Thompson DR's.

350 rwhp M6
75 or more track passes (lost count) on 275/40r17 m/t et street radials
Broke my DS before the rear broke
Best 60 ft 1.77 consistent 1.8s
Wasn't that loud, but it has been retired in favor of a strange 12 bolt!

LS1, M6, launch @ 3K on 3:73's killed the axle gears and spider gears in my Auburn posi 10 bolt.
Pics

I replaced it with a Detroit TrueTrac, welded the axle tubes, new bearings and seals and expect to put well over 600 Horse to it eventually. This time I will be launching around 2K, with stickies, at around 450-500. I'll let you know when the axles let loose. Then I guess I will pick up a pair of Moser axles and keep going until I am ready to take the $2k drop into a 12 bolt.

i dyno'd 319.9rwhp on a M6 01 SS at 68,000mi. my 10 bolt decided to do this....
http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/inde...ageID=43833776
... granted i had really bad wheel hop and a brand new set of 295/35/18 toyo T1R's on the back.... so i'm sure that didn't help much

Well I went 11.90s @ 122 mph with my 00 SS M6. It has a LS7 clutch and on that pass a stock 3.42 geared rear with a 275/50/15 Mickey Thompson radial. Granted I only launched at like 3500 and only cut a 1.96 60', but it lasted. Now Ive got a Auburn pro diff and GM 4.10s and all new GM bearings and new GM axles. No stickey tire now, but in the future they will be back.

Oh yeah the car makes close to 500rwhp on a 150wet shot. And 570 rwtq too.

Both of my 10 bolts have taking an *** whooping in both of my cars. I kept them both stock, I believe that's the key to making them live.

I roasted my 10 bolt on stock power. Hit a pot hole on acceleration and it wined like a banshee and broke 2 blocks later. Don't have to worry about that crap now.
Save and invest in the 9 inch. When you sell your car swap for someone's 10 bolt and get most of your money invested back. My 2 cents.

Mines still holding strong. Slipping the Spec 2+ at around 2500-3000 on street tires. Spinning and letting my adjustable suspension parts do their work. I just cross fingers and pray every time. LMAO!

I have a stock 10 bolt 3.42's still living at 540/502 HP/TQ. Hoping to brake 600hp before I brake the rear. I don't beat on it that bad and I am saving for a 12 bolt as my next mod. It is a hit or miss thing and any thing can brake.
