Default 8.8 Build Questions

I just purchased this 8.8 for $200 and Its obviously narrowed.

I've heard of some people just cutting their tubes off a 10 bolt and welding them onto the diff housing..

questions:
how are the tubes attached to the housings?
how can I re-attach the tubes after i cut them off?
where can I get some axles made for custom lengths and be able to reatain my ABS?

thanks in advance.

Do you have any idea how difficult what you're proposing is? You can't just hack off axle tubes and weld them back on without having some sort of a jig to do it with. The reason you're prob not getting answers is because the whole 8.8 thing has been done previously and is played out. No one builds them because in reality, they're not cost effective.

But in all fairness, I'll answer what I do know. I believe you can cut the tubes down on the 8.8, cut the tubes off flush with your housing on your ten bolt and then insert the axles tubes inside the remaining stubs left on the 8.8 and then weld them up. Any axle company can make you axles, Moser is one of the more well known axle makers. Hope this helps.

Maybe it's that you sorta failed at searching.

A quick browse thru a search for the less than obvious phrase "Ford 8.8"

Built by Tracy at Speedfab. Has an 8.8" center section with the 4th gen F-body axle tubes welded on. It retains the stock f-body suspension.
