Question What type posi unit do you guys run?

I've searched, I've researched, but I just can't decide what locker to put in my fresh 10 bolt rear end for my 99 T/A.

I've heard that Eaton is the way to go, but which one, the TruTrac, or the T2? One is a mechanical lockup, the other is a clutch style lockup. This car is cammed, stalled, sprayed, and sports a 3.73 gear.

It's primarily a summer street car, and will very rarely if ever see the track, but I'd like it to withstand a beating, instead of turning into a one wheel wonder like my stock one did..

Do the clutch style posi's need new clutch packs every other season?

Do the gear style posi's make a lot of clicking and ratcheting noises?

So, which one should it be, and which one do you guys have?

Omcar, which Eaton did you have?? the clutch style or the mechanical style?
How did it break?

KenSS, is your locker noisy? you still sportin' a 10-bolt? Does it make any clicking noises around turns?

I'm certain mine used to be posi years ago, but now only lays a single stripe of rubber.. This is a problem I need to correct!

the only noise it makes is a slight clicking noise going around 90 degree turns. i can barely here it though over my exhaust. And no 10 bolt here, i'm running a S60.

On the Eaton the clips holding the clutch pack breaks and screws things up pretty good. It's those small parts in the posi that have given me problems.

Detroit Locker here and it is well worth the noise it makes.

Exclamation

Well, after much research, and because of replies here, it was decided the T/A will receive a TrueTrac, and it's already installed in a replacement housing with 3.73 Motive gears.

I assure you all, it won't lead a cushy life, as it will be subjected to spray and endless tire boilings as I see fit.

I'll post results after the install! Thanks for the help to all who posted!
