Default ??? about Ratech Kit and Tune

I plan on buying the thunder racing package: http://www.thunderracing.com/catalog...&vid=3&pcid=68 with the strange 2 series 3.73s and the deluxe ratech kit. I have read some ppl seem to get the wrong parts for these kits. how can I check to see if i get the right parts??

the car has been dyno tuned, and i dont plan on putting it back on the dyno or messin that tune up. i know the speedo has to be recalibrated, but do the shift points also have to be changed??

i dont understand what parts you are refering to exactly. They make a variation 10 bolt kit that is for late 70s model 10 bolt where the biggest pinion bearing is smaller and wont fit our housing, but no other changes that i know of. Pinion seals changed in mid 01 year so unless your car is an 01 or 02 nothing to worry about there as the ratech kits come with the earlier style seal.

I mentioned to him about a Motive kit not having the right seal for my car. I guess I should have added it was 01-02..hehe

i was reading on here that some ppl get the wrong parts. I just wanted to know a way to check all the parts in the ratech kit to make sure they are right for my car.

these are part numbers straight off their site http://www.ratechmfg.com/gmstandard.htm, i guess i would use those part numbers to compare to what i got from them.

basically all ten bolts are exactly the same with the exception of late 70s models and that seemed to be only the first few years. the kit for our cars is a very common kit that ratech prolly makes tons of. I have ordered bunches of ratech kits and all parts were perfect.

If you don't change gear ratio then you don't have
to change shiftpoints (other than, stock settings
are lousy for part throttle street driving or modded
WOT). With 3.73s, yeah, at least a ratio scaling
(the software I use, will auto-scale from the ratios
if you let it and hit all the affected tables for you).

I have Ratech master rebuild kit parts throughout
in mine, with the 3.42/T-2R swap, including solid
spacer. No complaints, maybe 20Kmiles since and
not a peep. You might want to shop the separate
prices, sometimes people think they deserve a fat
check just for bundling. And make sure you like the
completeness of the wear-parts kit, you have a
(hopefully) one time opportunity to renew the guts
so make the most of it.
