my sleeves only cost $75

My 8.8 is from a Foxbody... I dont remember the exact measurements off hand, but I believe the OD of the 10 bolt tube was about 1/4" thicker than the ID of the 8.8 tube. Each housing seems to vary slightly. I made sleeves 6" in length to fit into the inside of each tube. Luckily I have access to a lathe and picked up some round stock material from work. Mine is pretty much complete and I only have about $300 total into it..

hmm...to cut or not to cut...I just only have access to a welder big enough to weld the tubes next week, i dont think my mig 140 will do it lol. And i dont know if I will be able to get sleeves made by then, and for a reasonable price. Were yal using the mustang rear end? Also what are you using the keep the rear end straight while welding on it? And did yal mig, tig, or arc weld the tubes? Thanks for the info guys.

I ordered mine over the phone. Ended up paying $34x after shipping with studs. But I just got sleeves made today for 120 bucks, more than I wanted to pay but I would have spent more one some decent ford brakes if I had swapped the brackets. Welding them up tomorrow.

Hey guys just drove my car with the 8.8 last week. Well I used a complete rear brake setup out of a 96 mustang. Well the brakes feel really mushy and not very good at all. I still have the abs block though, could this have something to do with it?

I read about the proportioning valves and I'm thinking that's probably it. Any suggestions?

I'll be going to the track next weekend. Hoping to get my brake deal figured out. Not for sure why but the brakes work fine it's just the pedal feels really mushy.

I know not many people have 8.8's under their cars but hoping someone may have fixed this problem. I know the brakes are working bc the rotors have got the rust knocked off them.

bjamick I beleive you have to have the car taken to the dealer so they can cycle the abs block for bleeding with the tech 2.
