rear end first timmer. hey guys i was wondering.... i want to run a beast of an engine in my fromula m6 and i keep hearing that the 10 bolt rear is the weak link. i figgured sence ive got all winter to build somthing good up so that leads to the shopping list.. what rear endproducts does every one suggest. i was going to build it piece by piece. i dont like the idea of shelling out $2g all at once. so what do you guys suggest. whats a good casing, diff, ring pinion, barrings, and what not. im going to try to make this as bullett proof as possible (to leave my options oppen later)

Dont know of a ready to bolt in housing only 12 bolt or 9'.
There are no donor cars to get these parts from.
They are made to fit 4th gen F-bodies.
Thats why they come as a complete assembly for 2K.
There are full race units you can get housing only, $$$.

bummer.. guess i have to bite the bullet and order the premade 
thats no fun ... ah well i have all winter to scrape together the $ thankyou though
oh hey while i got you attention what rear end do you recommend the 9" or the 12 bolt. that and what good companys do you recommend ...

I like stange engineering's stuff.
They are far superior to moser IMO.
If you want the lighter /daily driver least costly I'd say the 12 bolt.
But the 9" is stronger offers many more gear ratio's & easy to change the gears out.
But is more expensive.
Strange is a little more than moser but I'll gladly pay it for the quality.
Look at the sponsor/group purchase section billingsley has a special going now.

If you have traction control I would go 9".If not go Strange.And yes I've had problems with my Strange in a 6sp. car.The 12 bolt's just can't take hard hits in a heavy car.

i think slowhawk meant go with 12 bolt if you have traction control. i know the 9" is modifiable for abs but dont know about tcs. strange comes usually with less gear noise but moser makes custom housing that are much tougher but weigh less than the 9" they also dont have the c- clips anymore. i abuse mine all day long and it is holding up great and i run nittos always.
