I dont have a 9" rear end i have the factory zexel torsen but i do have 4.10's and they make a slight whine at highway speeds but not like your describing and a quite a few people are haveing that issue with the factory carrier and higher ratios, so from what i've been told thus far is that they will whine with such a high ratio atleast a little but like i said i still have the factory carrier tho. hopefully someone can help you out better.

ive pulled the center section out 2 times and have had it setup a second timeby a different installer other than the original time, when i pulled the center out the first time the pinion gear was running to shallow on the ring gear but after it was set up the second time the gear pattern is perfect, i dont know if running it the first little bit messed the gear up, or the gear itself is just junk and its just gonna make noise

Is it always loud - coast and accel?

Post some pictures of the gear pattern.

You can also check your backlash - too tight and they will whine for sure.

There's a trick I do to ring and pinions to quiet them down a little... It's hard to explain. Basically it's taking a right angle grinder with a 80 grit disc and grind the face, drive and coast, so it's more rounded. You have to do it on each tooth and try to be consistant. It takes a lot of time to do right - you don't want it to get hot - but I've seen it take away a lot of noise in some really noisy setups.

Another way is to send the gears in for a cryo job. There's a place I reccomend in AZ and another here in WA. Let me know if you want their names/numbers. Cryo will change the metalurgy of the gear and make the drive/coast smoother - which is what causes the noise in the first place. Cryo will also make the gears stronger and run cooler - if done correctly that is.
