Post some pictures of the gear pattern.
You can also check your backlash - too tight and they will whine for sure.
There's a trick I do to ring and pinions to quiet them down a little... It's hard to explain. Basically it's taking a right angle grinder with a 80 grit disc and grind the face, drive and coast, so it's more rounded. You have to do it on each tooth and try to be consistant. It takes a lot of time to do right - you don't want it to get hot - but I've seen it take away a lot of noise in some really noisy setups.
Another way is to send the gears in for a cryo job. There's a place I reccomend in AZ and another here in WA. Let me know if you want their names/numbers. Cryo will change the metalurgy of the gear and make the drive/coast smoother - which is what causes the noise in the first place. Cryo will also make the gears stronger and run cooler - if done correctly that is.
