Well I currently have a Moser 12 bolt and the car will not be seeing the track much longer so I am probably going to ditch it. Do you guys know if a built 10 bold, i.e. HD posi, Moser Axles, and a T/A cover will hold up to 800RWHP on the street? It wouldn't be from a dig, but generally just roll stuff, 30MPH type runs. What do you guys think?

I have 1.4 60'd on a STOCK 10 bolt. They generally only break if they have aftermarket gears on them or 6 speed cars. So no, I'm not joking. Thanks though .

Since you already spent the $$$ for the moser why would you step back down to something weaker?

I would think so if you run skinneys on the rear......

I see where you're coming from with trying to go back to the 10 bolt but it's just too small. Even from a roll and with an automatic that thing is probably going to grenade.

I just don't like how loud it is, I'd like it quieter in the cab.

Wheel hop? I know of even a M6 650RWHP FI T/A that holds at the track, stock 3.42 gears. But then again, I did have a buddy with a similar case as you, broke on the street with 385RWHP, wheel hopped though.

I have Strange 12 bolt, with true trac/ 3.42 gears and it's silent, I don't hear a hint of gear whine.

I had a buddy with a "built" 10 bolt. Also have another one with a stock one. Both cars are bolt ons only. No cam, heads, etc.

When you build a 10 bolt your just moving the weak spot around. It seems the axles usually go first. He Broke the axle so he put in moser ones. Now the axles are strong but he broke the spider gears (eaton). If not the spider gears, twisting the pinion itself in two is probably next (4.10). Might be ok with stock gears.

Now my other friend just has a collection of stock axles. He breaks an axle he just swaps a new one in. Cheaper and can be done with the rear in the car easily. If your gonna do a 10 bolt at least look for a 2 series carrier one with a low gear ratio. Just my opinion

If you want to make it quieter in the cab why dont you put some sound insulation in? lots of people do damn near the whole inside of their car with it. It makes a huge difference.

You might try a new set of gears in your 12 bolt, you might just have a noisy set of gears. You can have two fairly identical sets of gears, and installed with same clearances, one can end up being loud once installed, and the other set can end up being quiet. Bob

I can trade my 10bolts for your 12bolts

honestly, I'm on my 3rd rear end(and its gonna blow soon, I can tell) and its annoying to always destroy this rear end. And I dont like the idea of spending 4K on parts and not getting one pony more at the wheels. It will be the very last mod I'll do.

800rwhp on a 10 bolt? Come on seriously dude. You're smarter than that. My 10 yr old brother can figure that out. I wouldnt push more than 400rwhp on a 10 bolt. Get the Dana 60 or Mark williams 11'. Good luck
