Default Scared I might break rear end?

Well I have a 99' Trans Am M6. I'm wanting to put drag radials on it but I'm scared of ripping the rear end out of my car. The rear end in it is completly stock.

I'm thinking I'm probably about 375-385 to the wheels right now. (I may be wrong havent dynoed it yet.)
I've got a 584/584 lift cam in the car, bored 30 over, stiffer valve springs, Hooker LT's, 3 inch custom exhaust, LS6 intake swap, and a MTI lid.

I was seeing if any of you guys knew how well this rear end would hold up with some DRs on it.

Kinda a noobie as far as drivetrains go.

Thanks

You don't have to be scared. You will break it. If you had an auto, it would be better for the 10 bolt. Save the money on the drag radials towards a new rear. You might be alright if you slip the clutch A LOT with the drag radials, but I'd just go with a new rear. I just broke mine last month on stock power and street tires with a combination of power shifting and track visits.

Haha yeah, thats what I'm saying.

Wasn't sure if I could get away with not building up the rear end with DR's. Guess the 4.10's will be going in too!

Any suggestion on a rear end to buy or what to do to mine thats not too pricey? I'm ballin' on a budget.

I just bought a Fab'ed 9" from Midwest Chasis. Not here yet, so can't give ya a good review on it. Considering I had a completely stock suspension setup it was the best bang for the buck. If I were to buy a regular 9", 12 bolt, or S60 setup then bought an aftermarket tq arm, lca relocation brackets, and a driveshaft safety loop it would have been more money than what I paid for the 9" since those options are included.

It's not cheap, but it's a do it once do it right deal. Better to pay it all now then paying for rebuild after rebuild of lesser rear ends.

I have gone through two 10 bolts, one stock when the car was stock on street tires and my last one with a cam and 4k stall on et streets. Im going 9in since they are pretty much unbreakable.

while not a 10 bolt, the fbody rears are not much stronger. You might last 30 passes, or 3 passes, but it's going to break, sooner or later. I would either break the rear end on drag radials, if you have another car for daily driving, or just save for a built rear end. Then go racing.
