Narrowing Rear End??
Narrowing Rear End?? I placed my order for a fab 9 a couple of weeks ago. And had a question if later down the road I wanna narrow it is it possible? What all needs to be done in order to narrow it? Just the axle and the axle tube? I've called Eric a couple times in the last few months and didnt wanna bother him with such a small question so figured id post up here. Thanks
narrowing is possible, just will depend on how much, and if the axles are ok to do that with. even if the axles cant be cut and resplined properly, i'm sure it wont be too much of an issue to sell them and just get into a new set for probably the same cost as modding your existing pair. we normally charge 100.00 shop labor to narrow a housing as long as the housing ends are good.

The main reason I did it was to try to get the weight down closer to the stock 10 bolt. Eric's (Midwest Chassis) fab 9" is pretty damn light as it is. I took 3 inches off each side to reduce not only the weight of the housing, but the rotational weight from having shortened axles as well. Then of course there is the bonus of having a deep dish wheel because of the smaller backspacing. Those were my reasons behind doing it.
