4.10's top speed in 5th gear, or 6th with bolt on power.
Was looking at the gear charts, and I have 3.23's in my m6 right now(swapped rear), it says max should be 192 at 6k rpm, which sounds accurate(if you had the power), as I have done 183(GPS) on a safe long straight road.
I've been contemplating a gear change to 4.10's, but it says max would be 151 in 5th gear at 6k rpms.. That's terrible.. it also says 4th gear would end at 112 mph, whereas my 4th gear ends at 142. So I have a few questions..
1) Assuming equal mods, what would accelerate harder. A car in 5th gear(after just shifting from redline in 4th) with 4.10's, or a car in 4th gear with 3.23's?
Basically meaning, if two cars are racing, the 4.10 car will accelerate faster while they are both in 4th, but when the 4.10 car has to shift at 112, the 3.23 car stays in 4th till 140, so will the 3.23 car catch up, or will the 4.10 car still accelerate faster even though his gearing is taller in 5th?
2) Does a bolt-on 4.10 car hit top speed in 5th, or 6th gear, what have you hit?
Still trying to figure all this **** out.

ahahahaha, Ya Wesmanw02 really loves those 4.10's lol... he has some good theory for ya (kidding).
But for real, I had 4.10's and blew them out 3 weeks ago... just put some barely used 3.56's i had laying around the garage in last week and it sucks! Yes, you use the clutch more driving in traffic and around town but man do they pull alot harder... especially with a little cam.

honestly you have no reason to race to 140+mph, 4.11s here and i wont trade them for the world
if you're contemplating not putting 4.10s in cuz "you wont pull hard enough when accelerating from 150" let me know when you're within 100 miles on NY so i know to stay inside

i know everyone says 4.10s in a 10 bolt is a disaster waiting to happen but if i were to switch from 3.42s to 4.10s and not race my car at the track with some stickys would i be fine? im more into roll racing on the freeway anyways. what about if i did race from a dead stop but just had st tires on would i be ok?

60 in 410s is the beginning of 3rd gear... and if pulls hard as ****, then you have 4th at about 85-90 which also pulls hard. personaly if all i ever did was roll racing and never liked getting on my car from a low roll/stop id put in 342s.
almost all my races are highway rolls but i still like my 410s. and yes they are in a 10 bolt. and yes i have had them for about 7-8 months. and no there is nothign wrong with my rear end. i had the 410s put in when i had the 10 bolt rebuild. to be honest man, just get 342s if you like roll racing, or 373s.
