Default Diff fluid level check...

So i bought a 02 z about 4 months ago, it appears to have a stock 10 bolt. It had diff fluid on the pumpkin and pan hard bar, and the exhaust pipe. But it wasnt dripping any fluid until just recently. It has been parked for the past month, just because i dont drive it much. I noticed when i moved it out of the garage to do a wood working project it had dripped a little diff fluid on the floor, and then in the driveway when i put it back in the garage. So i crawled under the car and pulled the fill plug to check the fluid level, and fluid came spewing out at me. Seems to me it was over filled... Would this cause it to drip? It only has 30k miles on it, maybe they over filled it when they changed the fluid last? Maybe it's just wishful thinking, but i dont wanna pull the diff apart to replace the pinion seal, or pull the cover off to change that gasket either.

But, if i do have to replace the pinion seal, i figure i will swap in 4.11 gears at the same time (it has a m6). Any recommendations on brand or seller?

Thanks for the input you all.

Ben

it def could be seeping put of the pinion seal from being over filled, try draining some out and see what happens. if it still leaks, then the seal is fubar.

Mine was overfilled when I put it in (1.87 quarts who decided that), just had 2 quarts in it. It sprayed out the extra out the seal, all over everything, but then when it got down to about the right level it stopped leaking out and been fine since.

Yup, sounds right. You're good to go, with a little mess to clean up.
