M6 SS 10 bolt w/ 4.10's anyone
Hey guys I have a 2000 SS just with basic bolt on's nothing crazy yet. When I got the car I got a brand new set of 4:10's with it. The car just has 285 street tires on it no sticky's or anything on it. My question is is anyone with a M6 running 4:10's and not blowing crap apart. I really don't beat on the car once in awhile I'm on it once at about 25mph, just want a little more giddy up. So when i service the 10 bolt this week was thinking of throwing the 4:10's in and see how I like it, anyone with any answers?

So you guys think even how i stated on street tires and just getting on it a little after rolling its still gunna go boom haha, atleast then i have an excuse to tell the wife for an axle haha, Keep in mind at 30mph i am not matting the gas and going to top of fifth or something just like getting on it a ;little on straights and in corners

4.10s in my 10-bolt for going on 30,000 miles with nothing broken...yet. That's doing no hard launches, using a Mac cover (for whatever that's worth, got it with the gears for free), and expecting it to die every time I hit the throttle. I do like the 4.10s a lot more than the stock 3.42s, though.
People blow up 10-bolts with stock cars; the 7.625" version is just too weak for a performance vehicle.

Im running stock gears and beat the hell out of it at the track last month, its still fine. For what you're describing, 410's will be fine. A friend of mine has a comparable car as yours with 410's and he loves it. He hasnt been on the track and does have shitty tires. Time will tell how long his will last.

Ya I'm not driving around beating the bag out of the car may hit it at a 30 roll once in awhile but never from a stop am i punching it nor am i at the track all the time maybe once or twice a year, so judging from the replies "should" be ok, worth a try?

on 2nd set of 4.10's in mine. I know they will blow again some day. I will just stay away from the slicks for now.(that is what did in my first set) I am just going to eventually upgrade the whole rear. I am putting down to much HP to always be worrying about the rear going.

Isn't generally true that the auto will give out before the rear end? And that the M6 cars are the opposite?
And what do y'all think the chances are of breaking my rear end if I don't run slicks? 349.99 rwhp, auto with 3.23's and 275 nt555 street tires
I know it's not a definite answer, just looking for past experiences, opinions, etc.
sorry to hijack also

When i put 4.10's in my car it really woke it up IMHO.
For very few mods i suprise some people when i race them.
I would just stay away from DR's and slcks If u want any 10 bolt to last.

i had mine for less than a week before i blew up my 10bolt, and that was just ripping hard into second gear and my car isnt all that fast. i would just save yourself the stress unless you can get them installed for a dirt cheap price i wouldnt recommend even using them. maybe you should just use the money in a cam or soemthing else more useful

I had mine in for 2 years. I did digs on the streets, slipped the clutch at the track, hit gears hard as I could... what broke it was launching at 4k at the track on MTs. Don't do that and you will be fine.
