Thanks. Is there an 8.8 that is longer that we could cut the ends off and weld 9inch ends on and just add the rest of the suspension parts from the 10 bolt if this will even work. If not what 8.8 other than the mustang can we slide the 10 bolt tubes in and just weld up without having fabricate a sleeve. Just trying make it easier when i go to the junk yard so i have a bigger selection to pick from.

Is that bad compared to sliding them in?

Read this thread. This guy got an 8.8 out of an 80s ranger and turned the 10bolts axle tubes down a little bit so they fit inside.

Was looking at wheel bearings for mustang ranger and crown vic and they all have the same outside diameter. Would this be an indication of the axle tubes having the same i.d. by the pumpkin? Could be more but those the only ones I looked up other than an explorer which was bigger.

Here's mine, I used one out of a 92 towncar. I did not have to have the sleeves. However I did drill and plug weld in the original tube to give more support and have a more rigid setup for the ten bolt tubes.

Im more then happy with mine so far. abouT 30-40 passes and 2500 miles.
