i believe that you have to get custom made axles due to the fact that the 10 bolt tubes are longer than the 8.8s so i assume you can get them to make the rings with however many teeth you want

I'd assume the ranger set-up would work for 3 channel and the Mustang for 4 channel?? Know how assuming goes.
as far as the housings go. im not to sure what the differences are between the 3rd and 4th gen housings. I didnt feel however on opening up that can of worms.

as far as getting the ABS to work. its a ford 8.8 so im sure you can get a diff with the ring set up. The housing i got was a 3 channel set up rear with the ring and sensor. However i do not feel the need to bother with my abs considering that its broken and hasnt worked ever. Im going to be buying the abs delete kit in another month or so. Im sure that theirs a way to get the ABS to work... i just dont know how to do that lol..

On another note, this week ill be putting in some serious OT working on this rear end. i have to set up the 10 bolt tubes on the lathe and see how true shell run. i threw it up there the other day and it looks to be off... im wondering what kind of tolerances need to be kept between the diff to the end bearing. Im an apprentice machinist so .005 of an inch is alot for me as far as tolerance goes. from what i saw it was around .125" ill figure it out and crunch the numbers this week. i want the housing done so i can finally beat the ever loving hell out of the car!

I think he was talking about a 3 channel set up with the ring on the diff itself... but you are right. i have to call up moser and get custom axles made up for this setup. i dont want to order them until the housings complete tho so i know the exact length

You SURE this is an 8.8? A 7.5 looks VERY similar. Some rangers with a 4 cyl in the older years got a 7.5.

Default Sorry for the holdup...

Ive been extremely busy. Im sorry for holding up this thread and everyones expectations of my build. Without further adue. my recent progress...

mockup

Inner 8.8 axle tube has a seem. afew minutes with a grinder and no more seem.

Trueing up the 10 bolt tubes to slip fit into the 8.8 tubes.

all slipped together

Im going to send out my 10 bolt tubes and get them sandblasted. after that im going to angle everything and weld it together. Im waiting on my torque arm to arrive before i start making a bracket for that. Ill be keeping this updated whenever i make progress on this

im going to try and make it as stock like as possible. and weld it to hell and back. with enough supports to make it 100% overkill lol. i really dont want it breaking on me.

nope. i didnt want to bother with sleeves. plus itll be stronger just putting the 10 bolt tubes directly inside the 8.8 tubes. im going to have it in there about 3" or so.

I think by installing the 10bolt tubes into the 8.8 tubes will be a lot stronger in that area mine are 5+ inches in.
If it was not for the fact that i cannot stand ford brakes i would have left the ford axle tubes alone since they are 3.25''(EXPLORER) but small sacrifice i love my Ls1 brakes

Quick Reply: So i Finally bought an 8.8!
