98s' posi is Auburn which has spiders visible just like an open would look,but if you see springs,then it's a posi. the springs are for the cone clutches of an Auburn.
the other rearends you see are probably 99 + later Torsens LSDs which don't have spiders but a gear arrangement.

well then its open cause i know it doesnt have springs or nothin.... what did the open rear end come out of? cause the guy i got it from he said it was the original rear end out of the 98 i had that he just took it out....

yea i thought it was...wasnt for sure cuz i bought the two spider gears and pin to fix that 1 to put in my Z28 i have now...but those are 3:42's doent make since to me....
