4.10 gears......what brand are said to be the strongest?????
a gear swap to 4.10's is in my near future as well as a 233/239 from TSP......what brand of gears are the best to get?......i performed all of the mods in my sig, so i'm decent with tools but how difficult are gears to install for someone who has never done it?

I have motive 4.10s in my stock 10 bolt and havent broke yet and I launch aroun 3500 thru a 6 speed on the street (havent taken it to the track yet) But as far as install, I hear its very tedious and if you dont get it perfect it will whine very loud while your cruising.....May be something you want to take to a shop thats done it before.

Motives and all other brands are known for being loud. I myself would get AAM gears, which are what GM put in these cars from the factory. Check out LM Performance, I know that they sell them. Good prices too.
As far as the install, either find someone that has done it before or have a shop do it. Gears are fairly difficult to do for a novice.

it depends how the gears are installed, I got motive 410's and mine are quieter than my friends 373's motive, the difference was in the shop doing the work. and the Ratio

I have a set of AAM 4.10's in my car right now that I am getting ready to take out becasue I just dont like the ratio. The gears are quiet. I am going to AAM 3.73's. These 4.10's are not even broke in yet maybe 100 miles on them. I am going to post them for sale. Let me know if you are interested.

I don't think there is a specific brand that is "stronger". All of them are limited by 7.5" 10-bolt, I would recommend saving your pennies and buying a better rear end the first time. If you race often it will only be a matter of time before yours breaks. Mine has broken once and for the money that I have in mine I could have built an 8.8.

a 4.10 ratio has 41R and 10P teeth gears.
a 4.11 ratio has 37R and 9P teeth gears.
Would the 4.11 not be stronger due to having less teeth/more metal per tooth?
a 3.42 ratio has 41R and 12P teeth.
It doesn't seem like there would be a tremendous difference in the ring gear strength between the 4.10 and 3.42 . I would think the main thing would be the actual affect of the gear ratio change. The pinion even has less teeth on the 4.10

I've been looking into this, and some people claim to have a 4.11, but then it also says it's a 4.10 in a different spot or the same part on a different site. Does anybody know for sure if a 4.11 is available for the scrap metal 10 bolt??

I have motive 4.10's on my WS.6 and they do whine a bit, but that only depends on the shop or person that does the install. Fist time I took it to the shop they did a good job and it didn't whine loudly then I took it back cause they wanted to replace all the bearing and make everything new and then it was whining VERY loud so I took it back and then they stuck a few more shims in and it quieted it down a lot. Now as far as the stronger gears, well I don't know there ain't much we can do to make a 10 bolt strong
