I had a K5 blazer that every time when I came to a stop I got a loud clunk. Turns out it was the driveshaft binding on the output shaft of the trans. I took the driveshaft out and painted the splines with anti-sieze and it never happened again.

Check to make sure the torque arm bolts at the rear end have not come loose. Bob

Did you inspect/grease the splines of the driveshaft and check the u-joints for slop?

Also take a look at the transmission mount. If the tranny mount is broken it can make a clunking sound when you apply a load to the drivetrain. We had this happen with a Camaro back in 2002 that we bought to resell at the old shop, and we couldn't figure out what it was until we put the car on the dyno and drove the car while inspecting everything underneath it. Sometimes you have to pry up on the transmission to actually see that the mount is broken. Bob

I had the center bolt in mine come loose once and it clunked, but I could feel it in the floorboards.
