Default welding axles to housing

What are you using? ie Welder, rod, gas, preheat, cool etc etc etc

I am looking to weld the axle tubes on my 8.8 to the housing.

Thanks

I used a mig. Works just fine. I started at 12 oclock with a 1/2 weld then went to 6, then 3, then 9, alternating sides. It helps to keep the tubes from pulling. Then I just conected the welds, still alternating sides. I also weld up the rivets because they seep oil. The tubes do too so they have to be pretty clean to weld good. I uae laquer thinner with an old brush and scrub everything real good.

Thanks. I'll be doing this on the 8.8 this week. I got the LCA brackets welded on and test fit.

When I first saw the thread title I was trying to figure out why the heck you'd weld the axles to the housing. Then I saw you meant the axle tubes

Test fitting it before welding the lca brackets in.

Setting up the housing at zero to start tacking the brackets on.

The brackets tacked on.

The perchs and lca brackets finished installed.

I have test fit it and everything fits great. I learned a few things while doing this and will change a few things up next time. I am debating right now on whether to wait it out and do the Mustang TA or ride the mini ladder bar setup until i can get that in there.
