I paid to have it powdercoated. It's really worth it but... a poor mans powdercoating is POR-15 gloss black. Holds up the same and a $25 pint will do the entire rear and third. I use it to touch up nicks.

POR-15 is what I used on mine. It's held up great, and can be touched up any time needed (which so far it hasn't).

You can brush the por-15 on which helps if you don't have painting equipment too.

Satin black Rustoleum, brush on. Doesnt like brake cleaner. But, its cheap and will hold up to everything else. Its better than bare metal.

I bought a pint of duplicolor paint from advance auto and the clear coated it just for good measure.

You won't need the high temp for this application...just the regular ol' POR-15 works just fine.

Years ago I had a customer at the old shop brush POR 15 on his new Moser rear while we did his ProCharger install. Once he had it painted we took it outside and let it dry in the sun. I was amazed at how well it turned out, the sunlight flowed out the brush marks and it looked great! Bob
