TH350 trans with 4.56 gears
Hey guys, I just took my car to the track 2 weekends ago and I noticed a noise from the rear. Had the cover pulled and found a broken tooth on the ring gear. That gear was a 3.73 that had been in that 12 bolt since 2003 so it has done well. Since I am only doing 1/8th mile racing I replaced it with a 4.56 and also had a BMR drag bar installed. My best time with 3.73 was 1.40 60ft and 6.59 @ 104mph. I was just wanting opinions. The car didnt quite leave straight before either I hope this helps.

What tire are you running? Mine works well (NA) on this 4.71 gear in the 1/8. I only have 3 passes on it and it goes mid 1.4s. Stock rear sway bar (!!) no cage or subframes. It goes anywhere but straight It'll go 1.3s easy on 28x10.5 stiffwalls when the car's not wrinkling quarter panels. Essentially untuned I did 7.01 at 97 at 2000' DA so we're not too far off. I have a BMR piece in the garage... can't wait to get that sucker on my car, I bent up the stock bar pretty bad

I ran a best time of 1.37 60ft, 6.55 @ 103.95 mph on sunday at Jackson Dragway a local 1/8th track. The drag bar helps the car leave so much better. It is a good investment.

What are you guys using for tires? I have Hoosier 28X11.50X16's.

They fit in the wheel wells, just had to bang in the inside front inner fender.

I use a 15x8 summit star wheel with my 275-60-15 drag radial and plan on going up to the 295-65-15 to get a little taller and wider in case I want to do some 1/4 mile with my 4.56 gears. I only race in regular drive not overdrive with my 4l60 and without a cam I am almost maxed out rpm wise at the end of the quarter so I need a taller tire to get some more mph.

I use a 28x10.5 15 mickey thompson slick. And my 1/4 mile days are few and far between, 6600 traping in the 1/8 with that loose converter. And with my car lowered I cant fit a 29 or so.

nice improvement... I'll bet some more suspension and motor tuning will get you deeper into the 1.30s I have a stiffwall 28x10.5 hoosier on there now, i'm hoping for a few hundredths in 60' with the stiffer sidewall, my old 28x12.5 et streets were getting crunched bad with my 3400 pound car. I'm guessing your car is up in the 3400-3500lbs range?
My car is about 3-4 weeks out from running down the track, and I'd love to hit a 1.30. Got some nice stepped headers w/ merge collectors going on, new intake and a real nasty cam swap, so I'm shooting for at least 6.80s first pass. How much preload did you start with on the drag bar?
Thanks!
