I would try them both to see which one seats better. The 8.8 clips are a little bit thicker than the GM c clips.

I installed the 8.8. But seems the end of the axle, past the clip is shorter the. 8.8 so i have 3/32 play. Between axle and spider gear pin. Is that gonna be a problem

Hmm very good question.....that would not be the c-clip being the problem since its job is to hold the axle from sliding out it almost sounds as if the axle end was cut too far back... Does this happen on both side with the c-clips installed? I know it requires a small amount of clearence however I do not know just how much.........have you contacted the axle manufacturer to see what spec the clearence can be?

How about putting a nice bead of weld on the end of the axles and filing them till you are comfortable with the amount of play? You should only have enough play to remove the c clip.

yep common issue, but usually people dont worry about it.. but i did, i had a button machined at the end of my axle so you didnt have that play.. i didnt want my axles flying out on me lmao.. here is a pic.

If you are using the camaro axel you have to use the GM c clips.

Or what you can if using the trac loc just rebuilt it add thicker shims on the clutch pack and that solves your issue using the 8.8 c clips of course.

A thicker shim between the diff case and the side gear you mean? That would work just fine but probably make the diff a little more stiff with the added spring pressure. I could go for that.

I haven't had any issues with mine, I bought a rebuild kit and just got it a lil bit tighter than "recommended" specs....
