Whats the good and bad of welding up spider gears

Heard alot of people do this and have good results my posi is burnt up only my right tire leaves a black mark does this make ur rear end stronger or weaker. I know this is some old school racing stuff and alot of 4x4 people do it anyone on here done it

A lot people try to weld the gears together, that doesn't work to good, just fill in the next tooth on each gear on both sides. The idea is to fill in the groove that the next tooth is going to contact. As far as what its like, its the same as having a spool. Both tires are 100% locked. Yes sometimes **** breaks, there isn't any give.
