Default (Updated w. Pics) busted gears in moser 9 inch

Well, first time back to the track in 2 years and i definently busted something in the rear, hard launch and a big bang, car would move a little then something would bind up and we couldnt get it to roll at all, even in neutral...anyways, they were 4.56's in a 6 speed car, what brand gear and who should i get em from fellas !!!

Pull the third member out of there and see what is wrong with it before you order any parts. I sell the gears at this link, but I'd pull it apart and see what is wrong first. http://shop.brutespeed.com/9-Inch-Gears_c1091.htm Bob

How reduce your gear ratio 101: Remove half the teeth on the ring gear. Seriously though sorry to hear that man, time to build it stronger now.

better to go with a little bit noisier pro gear than a regular gear and be afraid to use it.

I just heard that the pro gear wears out fast, don't wanna have to pull the center section to change gears every other year, I don't mind the noisier gear since the strength will compensate

damn, that's crazy. was it an m9/MWC?

so uh, how does one avoid something like this? if it was a stamped housing, would a fab'd/braced housing have helped prevent the failure?

you said it was the first time back to the track in 2 years. does that mean you had been driving the spool on the street? could that have had something to do with it?

I'm gonna guess that, since the thread title says busted gears in Moser 9 inch that it is a Moser pumpkin, not a MWC. Either way nothing is bulletproof.

What is that shiny part on the spool kinda inside the ring gear? Looks like it goes clear around the spool. Is that a fracture, a machined spot or something?

It is a moser housing with a strange center, not sure what your seeing on the spool, looks like its a reflection, still fluid on everything
