Before I decided to try 4.10 gears I searched all the threads I could find so I was aware of the ups and downs going in. Keep in mind I am still breaking them in and have not had the opportunity to run through the gears at full throttle.
When driving normal and shifting at like 2500 rpm you sure do row through the gears til 5th at 35-40 mph....like a 10 speed dump truck. lol. When driving in traffic it seems with the 3.42s I could get away from everyone with alot less drama than with the 4.10s.
Don't get me wrong, I'm an old school guy and back in the day any car worthy of being called a Hot Rod had gears, headers and all the rest. I've just never experienced 4.10 gears with a somewhat wide ratio trans. Way back I had a BBC with a close ratio muncie (2.20 first) with 3.73's so 4.10's with 2.66 first is something new to me.

I've had some time to drive the 4.10's now that they're broken in, I thought I would give an update since in post #21 I wasn't so sure.
While 4.10's are definitely fun to drive around town, when on the highway the higher rpm combined with my exhaust drone made my normal cruising speed unusable. Anyhow, I pulled the 4.10 rear and put the 3.42 rear back in. Call it a learning experience.
*Update* I ran back across this thread and thought I'd add a update. I took the 3.42s back out 2 weeks later and put the 4.10 rear in. Once you get used to the 4.10s they're great. Really picked up my 60' at the track, in fact I'm close to ordering a S60 and am considering 4.30s for that.

I just got mine installed today. So far so good, the oem 4.10s I used are way quieter than it was with the 3.42s, actually its silent. The solid pinion spacer made the install a breeze and im hoping with the solid spacer and the TA girdle it will support it some. The one thing that does scare me though is how much smaller the 4.10 pinion is compared to the 3.42 pinion, I should have taken a picture, it is way smaller. Driveability seems better though, I no longer have to slip the **** out of the clutch to get it rolling. All I have to do is let the clutch out and it goes now. I havent been able to beat on it yet because the gears and bearings need to break in. I need to get my speedo fixed to

From what my installer said its really the bearings that need break in not the gears themselves. He said to just take a few short drives and let it cool down and it should be good to go. Im going to take it easy for 500 miles or so though. Im not to worried about it though, how many people test driving new Camaros take it easy on the car LOL.

along w/the info others above have posted, I'm running 4.30:1 rear gears and have 6-8 1/8th mile passes. Starting in 2nd gear, I'm literally hitting the rev limiter (6600 rpm) at the line twice with my M6 on street tires. On the highway, I'm turning 1950+/- 25 at 70mph. Economy on the highway is fine even with my .642/.644 lift cam... Either way, 4.10 or 4.30 with your t56, you'll be lovin' it
