I don't see why it wouldn't work? The 8.8 center section for any SRA Mustang from like 1979 up to 2004 was the same, they just had different axle lengths. I didn't think the Explorer 8.8 center was any different.

The Exploder 8.8s only have an "ear" on the passenger side of the pinion area. The Mustang 8.8s have two "wings;" one on each side of the pinion, that allows the installation of aftermarket Torque Arms.

yes your right, when i had my 8.8 welded i told him it was cast iron and he laughed at me and explained to me why it wasnt(he has done professional welding for over 50 years) and he is a college professor as well for welding, anyways he showed me the spark of the 8.8 pumpkin and then the spark from cast iron you could tell the difference, he also went into depth how the cast iron has more carbon molecules or something(i didnt pay to much attention lol) so as you said they are cast steel.

thanks for backing me up Lttransam, tired of everyone saying its cast iron. cast iron is brittle and would break. honestly cast iron isnt used for anything high stress like a rearend would be.

Haha
Yeah im curious too, that mount doesn't look very sturdy and the housing is definitely cast iron, the caveat is that its nodular so its more forgiving than most other types of cast iron.
