I'm certain my rear is on its way out, my mechanic had the cover off a couple months ago and said there was a lot of bearing and gear wear going on. The magnet was full of metal gunk just as it was a few months before that when I had the cover off.

I'm just curious on what exactly is making this popping/clunk Noise. It's only when I turn left at slower speeds or when I come to a stop then make a left turn.

I'm trying to get an idea of exactly what I need to replace just to make it a while longer so I can get a 12 bolt.

probably your diff itself giving up the ghost. Dont beat on it to hard and get a better rear under her. is your car auto or 6 speed?

Car is a stalled auto. I'm taking it easy on it. I'm exploring my cheapest options for a better rear. Any suggestions?

Im positive the bearings are shot, would that cause a popping noise from excessive play?

it would cause a popping noise when there is strain on it like turning left or something like that yk

hmm, If it could just be the bearings I may just overhaul it too get me by til I upgrade. If it was the posi unit I wasnt about to spend that much money on a 10 bolt!
