Default Are aftermarket shafts worth it on a ten bolt??

Say on a fairly stock, A4 car, is there any benefit to upgrading the axle shafts?

I thought the weak link was the ring and pinion, not that shafts. Wouldn't you break the R&P before a shaft?

Just wondering, was having a conversation with someone today and this came up.

I'm of the opinion that it's not worth the money to upgrade shafts, since they're not the weak link.

I am no expert mechanic but I can only share my own stories. Both times my 10 bolts broke on both my F Bodys it was the ring and pinion that gave way long before an axle.

You being a auto helps greatly on a 10 bolt, There for I wouldnt buy axles for a 10 bolt. There a bunch of autos that get in the 10s with a auto car. But yes the ring and pinion are the weak link.

Don't waste money on axles you will break the ring and pinon way before the axles.

I personally have seen more posi failures. So I think it is the weak link.

Dont waste your time on a 10 bolt.. That just my opinion... Once things start going out on your 10 bolt its better just to save up for a 12 or a 9

Not necessarily true in an auto car. They are good for high 10s/low 11s all day and 1.5x 60s
