Will 3.42s over my 3.73s help with traction at all?

I currently have 3.73s in my 10-bolt with a procharger setup that's making good power, how much, I don't know, but more than my tires can handle.
I have a buddy who has 3.42s in his car and he's na, and complains that his car feels slow, so we talked about just swapping the rears, housings and all. Both of us have TA covers, so it really is a 1:1 swap.
My issue right now is in 1st and 2nd gear, as soon as I give it enough gas to close the bypass valve and build boost, it instantly blows off the tires, even at 2500rpm. It's not till I get into third gear that I can actually roll into the throttle and build boost and have any traction. I know I need to change up tire size and go to a 305/35/18 to get some better traction over my 275/30/19s, but that won't be until the spring time after my bonus.
The car is a 100% street car, so it's not like I'm looking for the best 60' or quarter mile times, I just want some more usable power on the street.
So is it worth the 1-2 hours worth of work swapping the rears?
