Unless my tac is off considerably. I checked on the way home again last night and cruised at exactly 50 in 6th and was reading a hair over 2,000 RPM. I was off a tiny bit.

The speedo seems accurate. I bought it with 4.10s (installed incorrectly) with a programmed PCM.
If you bought the car that way how do you know?

I'm not trying to bust your chops but have you gotten in there and counted?

If you have and it's a 4.10 then you should check your PCM and gauge cluster like the others said.

Machines don't have personalities where one set of gears decides to be different. There is just no way what your saying is correct. Gear ratio is determined through math, math can't be manipulated.

My last car had 4.10s and my speedo was off with no programed pcm. Mine was 8 mph off at hwy speeds. But was still turning low rpms. I drove my car non stop from OK to GA and still averaged 28 miles to a gallon.

Default 4.10 M6 80 mph @ 2100rpm

I have installed 4.10's and went back to 3.42's 3 or 4 times now in my 2001 WS6 and with 3.42's at 80mph in 6th im right under 1800 rpm. With the 4.10's in 6th at 2100 rpm im reading 81 mph and without speedo calibration it shows me at 90 mph.

I'm sure you've had your question answered by now, but I figured I'd throw in my input. I have 4.11s in my 9", and they are great. The acceleration feel is amazing. After I got my speedo calibrated 75mph=2000rpms on the highway. I actually noticed no loss in MPG after a 500 mile trip and back. I didn't do a full calculation, but I've made this trip several times on 3.42s and on 4.11s, and both times, starting at a full tank, going to empty, and filling up again, I finish off about the same mark on my gas gauge every time.

4.10s or 4.11s for a street car M6. No brainer.

Are 4.10's too much for the highway/road trips?

Any 2nd thoughts on maybe should have gone w/ 3.73's?

Thoughts?
Do not go with 3.73's. Sometimes after my 4.10's I wish I went with 4.30's. 4.10's are very useable on the highway as well. 6th gear is actually worth a damn. In town you can go 1-3-5 no sweat. It's really nice.
