I would start saving for a new rear end a 12 bolt, 9 inch, or s60. My friend shattered his ring gear with a stock engine just launching it at the track.

I agree, you can get it rebuilt for cheaper than buying a new one but I'm sure it will just end up breaking once again at some point or another.

My car is down now cause I just fried my 10 bolt. Worst part is last year I just had all the bearing and **** replaced in it... what a waste of $. Do not drop a penny into the 10 bolt.... get a S60 or 9". They are expensive but its a must if you plan to race ur M6 on a tire.

^^^^ these definitely ... I pulled my 10-bolt before it broke and went spooled S60 and have not looked back. The 10-bolt is stored for a future demod.

any type of sticky tire ie. MT et street radial. im not 100% sure cuz i dont have an m6 but high rpm clutch dump+sticky tire+dead hook= 10 bolt destruction.

do not put money into the 10 bolt. ever. its ok to fix the pinion seal leaks. however...you need to call MWC a sponsor located on the right....and put down a downpayment, and over the next 3-4 months continue making payments, and when your almost done paying for it, they will be done custom dabbing it up, and when you get it you will never have to worry about the rear again. give it hell. its lighter than most 9's and just do a search and you will find nothing bad to be said about the MWC other than the fact that it takes some time to be built. good things come to those who wait though.

They start at 2700 with a spool and end when you wallet closes...keep in mind the next weakest thing is the ds.

Driveshaft. Stock ones are typically aluminum and become the weak link with sticky tires and a strong trans and rear end.

To give a good idea with a PST DS & adding upgrades like posi, powdercoat, backbrace etc it was about 3500. A little more money than an S60 or standard 9 inch but it includes their chromoly torque arm & crossmember, their torque arm setup is hands down the best, its a very direct bolt in rear, options are unlimited & cheaper than Moser & IMO quality is as good if not better.

Definitely a must to upgrade it. I have seen some pics of broken stock ones & I feel really lucky mine never broke.

go 9 inches all the way... I'm going to be running a Moser 9'' spool rear.. the 10 bolt will last a little bit but you'll have to baby your car to not break it... and isn't the reason your modding the car to go fast?
