driveshaft question,aluminum or steel-opinions
just put a 12 bolt in the car and looking to get a driveshaft,i have a local place that has a 3in. steel driveshaft for around 250 and a aluminum 3.5 driveshaft for around 350 , the question is ,is it worth the extra money for the aluminum and would it be as strong as steel, the car its going is has a cam and bolt-ons but dont want to replace the shaft again

With the 12 bolt and the M6, I'd lean toward the steel one. It'll be a fair bit stronger than aluminum. If you're drag racing mainly, I wouldn't even consider aluminum. My car is set up for road race, where drivetrain mass reduction is almost a requirement (sustained high RPM, quick rises and drops in speed), and drivetrain shock (hole shots with lots of power and sticky tires) doesn't occur as often, and so went with aluminum.

I ship out these driveshafts with the stronger Cryo Treated Forged Yoke for no extra charge, this is an upgrade from the standard yoke but I now automatically include it. This driveshaft comes with a much better yoke than the driveshafts that are often found with a chinese made yoke that have a pn# CAM798 on them. The CAM798 yokes are known to break on cars with less than 500 hp. Bob
