Despite the comments above, there is a noticeable difference between the two. Some argue the 4.10's are too short and run through the gears too quickly whereas others can't stand the short "dead spot" with the 3.90's. At the end of the day, it comes down to personal preference -- I accepted the quicker run through the gears in exchange for completely eliminating the dead spot in the range.

First trip to the track (road course, not the drag strip) with the 4.10's are coming next Friday, so I'll let you know how I feel about them after that event.
No....at the end of the day it comes down to which ones are faster. I know which ones are faster with track results (hey op 3.90's)......your packin gear in a car that can not be used from a dead stop with a 10bolt. The gear is most useful from a dead stop with traction. Your also recommending **** and have no hard #'s to back it up.

To be honest op it seems your car is a bolt-on car or has a mild cam by your hp #'s. 3.73's might be a better choice for you.

4.10s in the stock 10-bolt work fine. https://ls1tech.com/forums/gears-axl...l#post15484832

im going to be playing it safe and wait for a complete rear end. That should give me time to read and decide between 4.10s vs 3.90s.

To change what rpm the engine falls to on the shift you have to change the gear ratios inside the trans or shift at a higher rpm in the previous gear.
4.10s will let the engine rev faster as the car will accelerate faster and in the 1/4 you'll be in 4th gear longer through the lights, which is all good.
Anybody feel like tackling this one?...... omg
