Mods are in my sig.. on M/T ET streets and 3600 stall with full bolt ons should I be worried about breaking the stock 10 bolt? Should I go easy on it or can I give it hell (at the drag strip)? The rear has about 93k miles on it.

You should be good, stalled autos have a lot better luck with 10 bolts over the m6 cars. There is a guy around here running mid 10s (1.4x 60 ft times)with a h/c/I ls3 swap on a stock 3:23 10 bolt.

I have seen it vary from car to car. I have never broken a 10 bolt in any of my personal cars. My current SS and my brother's Z28 were six speed cars origanally and we both ran slicks. Mine had 4.10 gears and his is still stock. My 10 bolt is in another car and still running. His is still in one peice with factory everything in his car right now.

I have seen cars break them before, just never had one of mine break. I did switch to a 9" however and so will my brother. I would just give it hell and see what happens.

Alright, that's good to hear. I just don't want to break it and have the car down for another year.

Should be good for a while. If starts making noise fix it before it completely breaks.

The biggest thing is you have an auto car, I have seen some sick 60' times from auto cars 1.5 up I have seen and live. Stick cars are the crap shoot they can die on a 1.7 60'.......

It really is a crap shoot with these 10 bolts. Take mine for example: I bought it 6 months ago with mods in sig...and i'm about to spray it as well lol. The rear end has held up fine

Varies a lot, mine has seen some significant power and is holding up fine on drag radials.

definitely a crapshoot, I blew mine twice on street tires. first one was at the track the second one was on the street just having some fun on the way home from work. My car is an m6 car so your a4 car should be a lot easier on it.

Well said... Lots of times guys are getting cars with mi's on them and start modding and driving hard. Keep in mind this could be on a rear that had nvr seen a service. Oil breaks down and causes higher heat and friction.. Then the rear goes pow and the ole 10bolt gets it's bad MO.
With that said I switched to a 12 bolt after watching a friends blow up at the track in a 3300lb car cutting mid 1.6's 60ft. Rear had all new parts and about 80 passes on it. And no real street mi's.

Agreed all the way^ Poor maintance could cause that 10 bolt to break down on the first attempt.

Its really chancing it either way but you have an auto which is a plus. The more pwer you add the less chances I would take. I used to drive 140 miles to the track, race, and drive 140 miles back home. This is when my car was bolt on only and then bolt ons with stall. I have only gone 1 time last year since the heads, cam, intake, and 3.73 went in. I'm afraid it will break now but i'v been itching to go again lol

On the other side of the coin, I had a 99 z28 bone stock on street tires and I broke the rear after rebuilding the trans lol

Its really a toss up but with an auto and just bolt ons you may be good.
