Default Factory truck 10 bolt with 4.10s, compatibility question.

I can't afford to REALLY upgrade my rear right now, but I have 27" tires and my stock gears (A4) really kill my acceleration, it's awful. So instead of paying ~$600 to regear/rebuild my 10 bolt, I thought I might be able use one from a S10 or something if I could, to save some money.

I need to know if I can use any 4.10/4.11 (i forget which they have) rear ends from GMC/Chevy trucks in my 98 WS6 with TCS option.
I know you have to add the shock mounts, but is this even possible? I would also like to keep my TCS.

Can't find a direct answer through searching.

Thanks.

NO. GM S-series rears have no provision for a torque arm.
What are current gears,2.73(GU2 option code) or 3.23(GU5 option code) ?

Always funny when you find 4l60 s-10 tailshafts with torque arm provisions......leads one to ponder.

Regardless, it is the smarter move to stay with the rear end you have. Can't afford to pay someone, learn how to do it yourself.

2.73s

It's not that I can't afford to pay someone, but just hate to waste money on a 10 bolt.
And though I'm fairly capable I would not even attempt to DIY gears I don't care how much Internet research I do lol. Maybe I can just find one with 3.43s, anything is an upgrade for me.

Disappointing news but I appreciate the feedback.

Thanks

a complete rearend swapout with a TCS 3.23 rearend from an auto or a TCS 3.42 rearend from an M6 would be cheaper and 'wrench easier'. A rear from an M6 would probably be more 'beat up' than a rear from an A4.
True compatabilities would be any LS1 TCS rear from 98-02.

M6 rears tend to tear the driver's side carrier bearing race to **** for whatever reason. That side gets loaded the hardest on accel and man they show it, even with sub-50k miles. However, simply replacing that one bearing (or both carrier bearings) does not require any fancy tools or know how. It's quite straight forward. I have had great luck with 10 bolts but obviously you must know their limits. Having realistic expectations helps you and your 10 bolt have a long and lasting relationship

Not knowing their limits, and hearing horrible horrible things, im terrified to do anything lol.

What would be the best supplement for my high factory gears? 3600 stall? Nitrous? Just grin and bear it until I can do a S60/9"/12bolt or whatever I end up with? FI is out the question, and would blow out the poor 10 bolt anyways.

You have an automatic, not as horrible as you're thinking as in your last post. A SS3600 stall would be first, although because of the 2.73s',it'll seem very loose, maybe too loose for your liking, maybe not,you might find it totally acceptable. After the stall,a complete rearend swap(as in post #5) would be next. A 3.23 will help get rid of any looseness(if you consider it too loose). Automatics don't abuse rears like M6s do. You'll lose about 3mpg going from 2.73 to 3.23.
