Default Remove rear girdle after gear install?

Hey guys,

Got my 3.73s installed a while ago and I just hit 500 miles. Im gonna change the rear's fluid. I've got the girdle with the drain plug on the bottom. Is it worth it to remove the rear end girdle or should I just drain it with the plug? I want to make sure to get all the metal shavings out but don't want to do any unneccessary steps.

Thanks!

does your drain plug have a magnet on it? if it does then just drain it. if not find one that does. your call though.

I suggest that you pull the cover and wipe out all the fines lying on the bottom of the housing. You can also spray clean the inside of the cover. Mine was really dirty.
