Default 02 SLP Rear Help

I sourced an 02 slp rear for my 98 Camaro, I'm looking at pics of the internals and I don't see a tone ring for the abs like my auburn has. Did the Torsen's not have a tone ring? Seller says it's 4 channel rear but I want to be sure before I make the trip to go get it. It also has 4.10's if that makes a difference.

a tone ring on an Auburn means the rear/car is a 3 channel,ABS only. the 4 channel rear will not work in your car, mechanically it'll work,ABS won't. the torsen,if it was 3 channel, would have a tone ring on it.
the tone ring fits auburn, torsen,& eaton.

I was under the impression I had a 4 channel then, due to having ABS and a TCS switch. Learned something new today I guess.

If you have tcs you have a 4 channel. You need to confirm you have sensors at each wheel. Someone could have swapped that center into your car at some point.

My car's rear is original and un altered the tone wheel and sensors are original and not a modification. So I do have a 4 channel like I originally though.

The guy I'm buying the rear off of must not know what he has and really has a 3 channel because I don't see any sensors or tone wheel. Do you?

in your opening post,you said
'I don't see a tone ring for the abs like my auburn has'
if your auburn has a tone ring on it,it's a 3 channel rear.

the rear in the ad shows a 'thick' 4.10 ring gear mounted on a 2 series carrier and no tone ring which would indicate a 4 channel.
3 channel is a tone ring pressed onto the carrier,4 channel is a tone ring pressed onto the end of each axle behind the wheel stud flange.

does your service parts identification(RPO) sticker show a NW9 ?

Long story short I've got a broken hand and the cast comes off wednesday, I managed to get the wheel off and only noticed two sensors and they were on the rear wheel hubs not on top of the axle tubes. I can't get the pumpkin cover off till wednesday night. I'll take a look inside wednesday.

if you have sensors mounted in each backing plate/dust shield with wires(harness) going to the sensors, you should not have a wiring harness going to the top of the rearend that would be mounted for a 3 channel sensor to monitor/pickup a tone ring mounted on the carrier. when you remove the cover, you should NOT see a reluctor/tone ring on the carrier.

Just took a pic of the RPO codes and NW9 is present.

NW9 is the option code for ABS & Traction Control 4 channel car. The absence of a NW9 indicates ABS only 3 channel car.
Going from 3.42s' to 4.10s' will require computer adjustment to correct speedometer and odometer.

So more than likely the rear I'm looking at will work but my computer will need re calibration, correct? I'll still pull the cover weds night but I'm safe in assuming that this is an okay purchase.

contact the seller and have him send you pics of the area behind the flanges showing the reluctor/tone rings on the axles. Just to make sure that whoever assembled it didn't use non-TC axles. Been known to happen.
