Well a quick call to PST confirmed what I had been thinking in that the spicer yoke for the 80e has to be balanced to the ds its being used with. This explains why I was getting vibratons at the big end of the track. I ordered a 3" steel ds to replace the ticking time bomb factory aluminum unit. I was also talked into swapping out the stock 8.8 flange type setup for a strange pinion yoke with 1350 joints. Hopefully that takes care of any driveline issues I have.

Looking good, any torque arm fitment issues on the pumpkin? Meaning do you have to cut the outer holes off to get the bracket on far enough to use the inner bolt holes?

Default 8.8

I am using the inner holes with no problem.

This rear fits perfect.

Josh really does a great job on these.

I first used the Moser C-Clip elims. They worked, but always leaked just a little...never a real problem. Did go through a couple of sets over the years though.

Eventually after twisting shafts I moved to Mark Williams shafts and their C-Clip elims. Definitely a much better product and price reflects that.

Wouldnt have any problem using the Mosers though, they did work fine. Apparently Strange make a decent setup too although I've never seen those.

When we were asked to do a 8.8 build for a customer we found out that this was an issue. The only way to truly center the torque arm would be to drill through the housing. So we did.. Let me load some pics of what we did to make this fit right.

It is good to see you post in here to explain how off the torque arms are if they did not go through these steps and do it properly like you did. All though we can't get passed the fact that welding to cast isn't the best option.

Thank you sir!
Welding cast iron is all in the preheat, welding technique and electrode selection.

LOL - The aftermarket TA bracket I had on my 10-bolt dented the floorpan before I installed my 8.8. I'm going from memory here but I recall the TA ended up about 3/8" (towards the driver's side) farther out than the 10-bolt. One thing that helps the 8.8 in this regard is that the pinion is located farther to the right (off-center from the mid-point of the axles) than the 10-bolt.

"Welding cast iron is all in the preheat, welding technique and electrode selection." - Well said!
