Rear End Newbie needs Help!!

Hey guys,
My car has 33,000 milen on her, and I have a problem..I think? Whenever I punch my car to race or just to merge in traffic, There is a loud knocking sound that knocks 3 times very loud and vibrates the bottom floor board. Can anyone tell me what it sounds like. I thought it was rear end but the Chevy dealership tells me that it is my muffler hitting my rear end. I can take the muffler and shake, and yank on it. But never hits anything?? Im confused!

Could be, But I just got a Y-Pipe put on. My pipe from that to the rear is about 1 1/2 inches from my driveshaft? I think it might me hitting there.

Maybe check your transmission mount and the torque arm mount to be sure that they are not broken! Just a couple of suggestions.

Sounds like the y-pipe hitting the underside if the car. Under the driver is the most common area to hit!

If it is hitting the floorpan, you have to "move" something. You will probably have to "tweak" the Y pipe some to get it to quit hitting. Mine is pretty close on the drivers side, but doesn't hit at all. It sounds to me like the trans mount or torque arm as suggested before.
